I can’t get my child to study, what should I do?
“Go do your homework.” Your kids are tired of hearing it, you’re tired of saying it, and it doesn’t get you the desired result anyway.
Often children are given ultimatums concerning education. “You have to learn this subject; you have to learn it this way; you have to get good grades; you have to go to college.”
You want the best for your children and have been taught that standardized scholastic pursuits are the way for them to have the best.
But check this out:
Research has illuminated the fact that standard education does not suit everyone. The fact is people learn in many different ways. Each mind is unique and wired very differently. Though you want your kids to learn and find their purpose, the focus shouldn’t be on shaming them if they aren’t doing it, just like every other kid.
So how can I make my child study at home when they are so unmotivated to study?
Stimulate Curiosity with the New Language of Heart Speak:
You have the opportunity to level up the lives of your children by shifting your perspective and empowering them through your words and actions every day. Take a moment to reflect on these questions for better study habits:
- Do I speak in a way that inspires abundance, empowerment, freedom, and gratitude?
- Do I create a sense of lack, control, limitation, and judgment with my words?
The key to your child finding joy in learning and studying is switching your perspective when teaching them that Life is School. Tell them to consider that when they were born, they came to Earth School, and they are here to learn, grow, and evolve each and every day. When they begin a new subject, explain that they are sifting through new pieces of information to find out what they like, what ignites their passions, and what helps unveil their purpose.
The Happy Life System is all about shifting perspectives. It is built around the concept of changing the chores of life into opportunities for joyful living by using the New Language of Heart Speak to positively frame all experiences in life. That includes studying.
Children are naturally curious and want to learn. Tap into their curiosity by speaking to them about studying in a way that they can find excitement and fun in it.
Try This Practice Exercise to Start:
Stop this: “How was school?”
That typically gets a short/generic/robotic answer like, “Good.” This approach limits them by framing school as a chore. They have to do the thing, and they will just get through it.
Say to your child: “Share with me one thing you learned today that inspired you.”
This approach empowers your child because they get to teach you something. It also helps store the material in their memory by recalling it and then stating it in their own unique way.
Bonus: You get to spend extra quality time with your child while they get to share their brilliance with you. The goal is to activate their learning muscles in a way that excites and liberates your child to learn.
You want everything to be in a playful spirit where the child understands this is a stepping stone to the next phase of their life, and they must move with intention in all they do. But they can always have fun with it, too!

Forced learning doesn’t facilitate anyone in finding their purpose in life. Expanding creativity and imagination does!
