Work/Life balance. You’re probably thinking Ha! What’s that? This parenting gig can leave you feeling like you are run-ragged, right?
You are in a constant race to the next appointment, drop off, pick up, or meeting with no time to stop and breathe. Like the hustle of parenting has left you feeling constantly depleted and tired.
If those hit you like I have been reading your diary, I totally get it.
A few years ago, I was a top business executive of a Fortune 5000 company that I started from scratch with my husband while we raised our four children. Sixteen-hour, jam-packed days were the norm. I remember breastfeeding my daughter at three in the morning while answering emails to West Coast clients who had already started their day.
The parenting hustle is all too familiar to me.
But even with that schedule, I made sure to maintain a work/life balance. It’s a key to a happy life and family and needs to be part of the day.
To this day, if I ever feel myself slipping into a rush-around routine, I catch myself (sometimes letting it go a little longer than I would want, to be honest) and integrate my Happy Life System mindfulness and presence practices as a re-shift technique.

Focus on Gratitude: Be gratefully present with your food.
Eat every meal with purpose and attention at a slow pace. You are working on being present in every bite, every taste bud, and experiencing the true power of the NOW.
This will empower you to stay present in every moment. Think about it, you will never get this moment back, or this one, or this one. Make it magical, and you will be able to enjoy the preciousness of each.
Be Mindful of the Noise around you, only allow uplifting noise into your life.
Set an intention to become aware of the types of conversations you are having. Life is energy, you only want to attract the very best in your life. What you think about you bring about. The way our tongues speak is how our hearts feel. Negativity will disempower you, be aware, whether at work, the park, or at a restaurant, that you are only attracting the most beautiful energy to uplift your life.
Connect to your breath.
Stop, Breathe, Reset. You have the right to rest, always remember that. Allow yourself the space to breathe and give yourself 5 minutes of you time. Practice focusing on positive thinking: breathe into the words, “I’ve got this, there is no hurry, I am perfectly imperfect, and everything will get done beautifully.”
These may seem too simple. But the beauty in the simplicity is it will help you see that every moment of your life is an opportunity. These practices create the foundation for you to discover more connections each day to YOU!
Sure, life can be a hustle, but you can hustle differently and illuminate your life with more consciousness, giving yourself the work/life balance you deserve.
Why are we all in such a hurry, where are we going? Life is only ever and always happening in this moment.
